Swimmers make a splash, 9 Jan 2013

A RECORD number of swimmers hit the water of Port Fairy's East Beach last Saturday for the Moyneyana Ocean Swim.

The event attracted 246 swimmers in the main event and 47 in the new 300-metre novice race.

Jess Suriano was the winner of the female section with Warrnambool's Isaac Jones winning the men's.

The first home in other categories included Ben Raymond and Meg Flaherty (juniors), Travis Greening and Jo King-Hudson (seniors), Aaron Davis and Sandra Skilbeck (masters) Zane Bell and Cathy Plater (veterans) and Doug McLaren and Helen Lovegrove (super veteran).

In other surf club news, Port Fairy member Jake Hetherington won the under 17s board class event at Anglesea last weekend. He also finished sixth in the under 17s ski section. Clubmate Isaac Martin came sixth in the under 19s ski class.
