Ducks Galore on the Moyne River

The ducks race down the Moyne River in the Duck Derby - The Moyne GazetteTHERE were ducks everywhere on the Moyne River on New Year's Day, some worth a lot of money.

The occasion was the Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club's Duck Derby and a huge crowd lined the river to witness the event.

The fun began with the Wooden and Classic Boat Parade and then moved into the Corporate Duck Race, which had 46 entries.

The winner-take-all prize of $1000 was won by Port Fairy business Taylor's Bobcat Service.

In the main Duck Derby race that followed, 1000 rubber ducks hit the water with the winning duck belonging to Nigel Swift, who claimed the first prize of $700. Second across the finish line was the duck of Noah Eagles with the prize $200 and third for $100 was Kerrie Baxter's duck.
