Shearwaters Victory

THE best surf lifesavers from across the state took centre stage on Port Fairy's East Beach last weekend.

The Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club hosted a Life Saving Victoria summer series carnival.

It was the first time the club had hosted such an event since the 1960s.

About 300 competitors took part with Port Fairy managing to have some success.

The Port Fairy Shearwaters crew won the open men's surf boat, while Daniel Murrihy was the winner of the under 19s 2km beach run.

Mimi Dixon was a double winner, claiming the under 15 girls beach flags and beach sprint and was third in the 2km run.

Other good results included Jake Hetherington (second under 19s men's single ski and third surf board), Daniel and Lachlan Murrihy (third double ski), Kristen Pannan (third open women's beach run), Donna Dixon (third open women's beach sprint), Blair Hetherington (under 17s men beach flags), Eva Dixon (third under 17s women's beach sprint), Jake Hetherington (second under 19s men's single ski, third surf board), Daniel Murrihy (third under 19s men's single ski).
