Lifesavers honoured

THE Port Fairy Surf Lifesaving Club held its annual presentation night last Friday at its clubrooms on East Beach.

The night was a triumph for the Plant family with Mark Plant winning the male lifesaver of the year award and his wife Ilona winning the female award.

Another big honour was bestowed on Gerard Cashill who won the Michael Lockett Memorial Trophy for the most overall patrol hours done for the 2013/14 season.

The male club champion iron man open award was won by Lewys Jones with Amy Finnigan winning the female award.

Both of these performers were also named as open club champions, while Jack Conlan was named as the junior male champion.

The awards kept coming for the Plants with Mark winning the club champion in the master's category and Ilona winning the female award.

The champion nipper for the year was Mimi Dixon with the patrol awards for the junior male going to Lewys Jones and Meg Balmer winning the female award.

Gerard Cashill took home another award, winning the senior male patrol award with Catherine Hetherington taking home the female award.

Lewys Jones won the Tracey Trimby Cup cadet and Lachlan Murrihy won the Boyce Le Coutier junior award.

Simeon Balmer and Catherine Hetherington won the SFR Hedditch Memorial Club Service award.

Awards for the Moyneyana Swim were handed out to Tom French as the first male member across the line and Rosie Roberts as the first female.

The club also handed out four life memberships on the night to two husband and wife combinations.

Scott and Catherine Hetherington and Shaun and Martina Murrihy were all awarded life membership of the club.
